Flying On The Swings
I remember the hot summer nights as pre-teen, waiting for my Dad to get home from work so that we could go to the Fair and ride the rides. The one I was hanging out to ride, were the swings. I love flying around in the wind.
I remember the rows of paper tickets that we’d count out diligently to make sure we got as many rides as possible. The outdoor country concerts, connecting with classmates during summer vacation and making memories throughout the warm summer nights.
The pinnacle of fun, living in the moment.
As I fast forward now as a Life Coach, I often coach with incredibly successful and driven women who have a common thread is wanting to feel alive, radiant and in alignment. There are seasons when we work hard at motherhood, careers or changes in our lives, to then come to a cross-roads where things have to change.
When I started to explore my own journey with detoxing from the burnout of building my business and motherhood, the one thing which ‘hit me over the head’ was how little fun I was having.
I ask it often of my life coaching clients ‘when was the last time you had fun?’ -or- ‘what brings you joy?’
When we are searching for balance in our lives, we often try and find it outside of ourselves. Buying programs, attending workshops, and getting reeled in with the next ‘thing’ to get our lives on track.
I think it’s much simpler than that, I actually think it comes back to realising that you’re more than just one thing. You’re more then being a mom or a business owner or a career. And I think that tipping point, the missing link in so many people’s burnout stories — is — FUN.
It has been the #1 thing which has helped me in my detox from burnout. So I invite you to reflect upon FUN in your life. To ask yourself: When was the last time did you truly had FUN?
What are some of the ways in which you can invite more fun into your life?
